New Bulgarian University offers tuition in Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs as well as different forms of continuing education: masterclasses, language courses, programs and courses for qualification and retraining, management courses. NBU programs are composed of courses and extracurricular forms of training. Students choose whether to study in standard or individual programs. Standard programs are developed by NBU and are allocated in accredited professional fields. Individual programs are designed by the students and combine individually chosen courses and extracurricular forms of training from different programs in accredited professional fields.
Studies in the Master’s Degree programmes at NBU last, on average, two or three semesters, with the exception of Architecture (six years) and Law (five years). Most Master’s Degree programmes also admit students who have a Professional Bachelor’s degree in their respective field.
There are two intakes, in autumn and in spring, for the Master’s Degree programmes at NBU. In autumn, students are enrolled in the first semester of the programme they have chosen. Every year most Master's Degree programmes also have a second admission period. While the majority of students opt to complete their course of education over the traditional three semesters, the flexible enrolment system allows them to do so within one or two years.
The doctoral programmes offered at NBU are of an average duration of three years. They can be supervised or self-study. PhD scholarships are provided for specific topics announced in advance by the departments. The successful completion of a doctoral program leads to obtaining a PhD degree.
