Musical: Musical Drama and Comedy (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme is practice-oriented and broadens the knowledge and skills of the students in the field of the musical and its musical, dance and stage interpretation. It consists of three semesters. Each semester students choose three out of four lecture courses (9 credits), two out of four individual practice courses (6 credits), five out of seven training courses (15 credits) from in the 1st and 2nd semesters and an internship in the 3rd semester.
The programme provides instruction in the specialty of vocal performance in musicals, incl. specialised singing, chamber music, acting, improvisation, playing music in various musical ensembles: duo, trio, quartet, quintet, specialised dances in musicals, etc. The programme is innovative for Bulgaria and is in line with modern trends in education, using flexible and individualised approaches and providing opportunities for student performances and career pursuits in the field of musicals, musical drama and musical comedy upon graduation.

Practical training courses:
There are placement and internship contracts concluded with institutions in Bulgaria. Each semester students have the opportunity to participate in national and international projects, improving the knowledge and skills mastered during the course of study at NBU.
Graduate Student Competencies:
The programme is practically oriented. Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:
• vocal performance and interpretive art in the field of musicals;
• musical performance and specialised musical pedagogy;
• teaching in specialised educational institutions (music schools, colleges, etc.);
• managing diverse performing teams and compositions;
• participating in prestigious musical projects and stage performances in the field of musicals (musical drama and comedy) at home and abroad.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers in professional field 8.3. Music and dance art as soloist singer, chorister singer, artist, musical teacher, teacher of singing (for a musical) in specialist music schools in universities, colleges or specialist schools.
