Graduate Student Competencies:
As a result of the quality training, graduates will have mastered systematic, in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of:
• crime as a socio-legal phenomenon by having studied and analysed its quantitative and qualitative characteristics;
• social determinants of crime;
• formation of a criminal personality;
• formation and implementation of policies for general, group and individual prevention;
• formation and implementation of policies to control crime as a negative social phenomenon;
• formation and implementation of policies for the resocialisation of criminally convicted persons;
• results of up-to-date research on the problems of prevention of both general crime and types of crime with the highest degree of public danger: transnational organised crime, terrorism, corruption, cybercrime.
Graduates will have acquired skills in:
• independent investigation of crime;
• implementation of policies for crime and corruption prevention and control;
• implementation of policies for the resocialisation of persons with criminal convictions;
• application of methodologies for criminological research and for national and international projects in the field of crime prevention.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. GPA below 4.50 requires taking a state exam.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as:
• specialists (managerial and expert positions) in the public, private and non-governmental sectors for crime prevention and countermeasures;
• specialists (managerial and expert positions) in the public and non-governmental sectors for socialisation and resocialisation of criminally endangered and manifested persons;
• researchers in scientific units and university lecturers.
