Sound Direction (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme is practice-oriented and gives the opportunity of an exchange with European educational institutions. It provides specialised musical instruction in the fields of sound engineering, sound technologies, software solutions in the music studio, electronic sound, sound editing, audio sound design, sound synthesis, mastering, sound in cinema and television, and computer modelling of sound. The programme is unique for Bulgaria with its modern teaching methods, flexibility and individual teaching approach. It is updated periodically. Meeting the standards of the professional organisations that employ its graduates is an additional incentive for adopting new technologies and using innovations in the educational process. In 2014, the programme was accredited for a six-year period.

Practical training courses:
There are placement and internship contracts concluded with institutions in Bulgaria. Each semester students have the opportunity to participate in national and international projects, improving the knowledge and skills mastered during the course of study at NBU.
International mobility:
The programme provides an opportunity for international student mobility at universities in Austria, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Italy, Poland, Finland, France, Croatia, Switzerland, Turkey, etc.
Graduate Student Competencies:
The programme is practically oriented. Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:
• the field of musicology and musical culture, musical theory and history, musical practice in sound direction, sound technologies, musical mastering, musical sound processing, musical montage, etc.;
• teaching in specialised educational institutions (music schools, colleges, universities and universities, etc.);
• as highly qualified specialists in sound engineering: sound engineers, sound designers, sound operators;
• as highly qualified computer/electronic music specialists: music arrangers, music shapers, sound designers, sound effects specialists, electronic music composers.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as sound engineers, sound designers, sound operators, music arrangers, music shapers, sound designers, sound effects specialists, electronic music composers.
