Law (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme is in compliance with the Bulgarian state requirements for obtaining a higher education in the specialty of law and combines theoretical and applied courses in the fields of public and private law. The duration of study is five years, including an obligatory six-month internship and a state theoretical-practical exam. To meet the NBU requirements, in parallel with the lecture and training courses in the first and second year, there are general education courses in the Bulgarian language, computers, sports and arts, and a foreign language.
The course of study comprises obligatory lecture courses General Theory of Law, History of Law, Constitutional Law, Administration of Human Rights Bodies, Roman Private Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Administrative Law and Administrative Process, Administrative Justice, Legal Aspects of Cadastre, Property Law, Financial Law, Family Law, Inheritance Law, Bond Law, Tax Law, International Protection of Intellectual Property, Commercial Law, International Public Law, Tax Procedural Law, Labour Law, Criminal Law, Insurance Law, Civil Procedural Law, European Law Union, Forensics, and exercises in each of the courses.
There are elective lecture courses, incl. General Theory of State, Legal Sociology, Foundations of the Philosophy of Law, Rulemaking, Parliamentary Law, Police Law, Copyright, Legal Aspects of Marketing and Advertising, Legal Regulation of Electronic Media, Legal Protection of Competition, Medical Law, Refugee Law, International Treaties, Maritime Commercial Law, Forensic Expertise. The training courses include independent work in all the main branches of law, an internship in a municipality, court and prosecutor's office.
The programme scheme is fully in accordance with the Republic of Bulgaria’s Regulation on the uniform state requirements for the acquisition of Higher Education in specialty “Law” and Professional Qualification "lawyer”.

Erasmus+ bilateral agreements on exchange of students and cooperation concluded by NBU and 11 universities in Europe.
Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates in Law:
• will have mastered in-depth knowledge in the field of law, obtained in accordance with the requirements of the Unified State Requirements for Obtaining Higher Education Degree in the Law Speciality and Professional Qualification Lawyer;
• can continue their education as doctoral students, as well as engage in teaching and research activities in the field of law.
Graduation:
Upon earning the required number of credits and taking state exams (written and oral) in civil law, criminal law and public law.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as lawyers and legal consultants in central and territorial government bodies, local self-government bodies and local administration, commercial companies, cooperatives, non-governmental organisations, foundations, etc., and also as judges, prosecutors, investigators, lawyers, investigating police officers, etc.
