International Business and Development (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The master's programme in International Business and Development provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to implement in the field of conducting and managing business in an international environment, gain and retain new perspective markets, create and implement public and private foreign economic strategies and policies. The educational goal of the programme is to train highly qualified and competent specialists with general economic training and specialised functional knowledge in the field of foreign economic relations and the organisation and management of international business. The course of study is in line with the latest trends in the development of the global economy, provides up-to-date knowledge of the theory and practice of international business and prepares students to develop in organisations with foreign economic activity. The training assists in forming a set of knowledge and skills, developing and enriching the expertise and management capacity of the trainees, thus providing a competitive advantage in their career pursuits. The teaching team consists of young, highly qualified and innovative teaching method specialists with extensive academic and professional experience. Teaching through practical simulations, real-life case studies and participation of leading experts from practice in the learning process bring the training and students as close as possible to the actual conditions and the most current trends in international business. The training is carried out by the faculty at the Department of Economics who have been experienced in the field of international trade, international finance, international marketing and international business. The courses have been developed on the basis of consultations with Bulgarian companies actively involved in international business and with the state administration regulating this activity. The course of study lasts two semesters.

Practical training includes various activities at the university, as well as internships in economic and financial institutions.
International mobility:
Students studying in the International Business and Development programme have the opportunity to carry out student mobility under the Erasmus+ programme at universities in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Greece and Turkey which have bilateral Erasmus agreements with NBU.
Graduate Student Competencies:
• understand in depth the content and instruments of the national economic and foreign economic policy, interpret the state, trends and prospects of Bulgarian companies and the Bulgarian economy as a whole in the world economy; form and argue their own positions regarding the directions of their improvement;
• critically assess the state, dynamics and trends in the world economy for making adequate and timely management decisions;
• use the most modern methods of economic analysis and quantitative and qualitative assessment of the functioning of business organisations in a multicultural environment;
• generate innovative economic ideas and creatively use interdisciplinary approaches and tools to solve business cases in dynamically changing conditions;
• develop and implement problem-oriented strategic solutions for managing the economic activity of economic agents internationally.
Graduation:
Completion of studies in the master's programme takes place by defending a master's dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates have extremely diverse and broad-spectrum opportunities for career pursuit, meeting the specific requirements for occupying positions at senior and middle management level in state and local administration and in companies with international activity, as well as in the non-governmental sector. They have the necessary qualifications to work in international economic, commercial and financial institutions, as well as in multinational companies; they have the opportunity to work as experts in a number of areas of the world economy, as well as consultants and entrepreneurs. The knowledge and skills gained also meet the requirements for career pursuit in the EU institutions.
