Business Development in Network Industries: Energy, Telecommunications, Transport (in Bulgarian)

Short presentation of the programme:

During the course of study, the students have the opportunity to gain knowledge in the fields of business administration, telecommunications and transport. Its structure is based on the premise that technological developments and changes in the market environment require quick adaptation of strategic thinking and management techniques. This is a fact in energy, telecommunications and transportation which are characterised by a strong interrelationship between technology and business.

It is a three-semester programme, uniting three sectors in which the structure of markets and regulation are governed by similar principles. It comprises lecture courses in Economics, Competitive Environment, Regulation, Quantitative Analysis of Financial Markets, Corporate Governance, Infrastructure Security and specialised courses focused on the problems of individual sectors. The programme is aimed at students with interests in career development in the field of network industries, regulatory agencies, research and consultancy organisations in these sectors. It relies on practice-oriented, modern interactive instruction carried out by leading university professors and business experts.

Graduates will have gained knowledge and skills in:

• applied economics and economic regulation;

• management of vertically integrated sectors;

• business strategies, entry into new markets, customer retention, competitive behavior;

• quantitative analysis of market data, forecasting and business analysis;

• analysis and decision-making in international business, regarding financial markets and considering the regulatory mechanisms in the three sectors.

Graduation:

Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.

Occupation and possible positions:

Graduates pursue careers in management and consulting positions, making strategic decisions related to specific behaviors, products and markets.
