The Mediterranean World: Hellas, Rome and the Ancient Near East (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme provides an interdisciplinary study of classical history and culture in the broader context of Mediterranean civilization. A special emphasis is placed on the role of the ancient cultural and historical heritage in constructing the modern European identity and the cultural models of today's humanity. The course of study comprises lecture courses in languages, history, culture, religion, literature and art of the ancient Mediterranean world, as well as practical activities with the classical heritage in situ, in Bulgarian museums and in some international institutions. The graduates can work as experts on the main achievements inherited from the classical Mediterranean culture. The programme offers a preparatory module for holders of degrees in other professional areas.

Practical training courses:
The programme provides internship opportunities in companies and institutions dealing with the cultural and historical heritage of the Balkans and the Mediterranean, incl. museums, publishing houses, NGOs, etc.
International mobility:
The programme provides an opportunity for international student mobility at universities in Greece, Italy, Cyprus and France.
Graduate Student Competencies:
• in-depth knowledge in the field of history, culture, religion, literature and art of classical antiquity;
• expert skills in the field of the Mediterranean cultural and historical heritage and its presentation at home and abroad.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
