Artistic Practices in Architectural Environment (in Bulgarian)

Short presentation of the programme:

The programme comprises a contemporary, creative and multidirectional course of study related to design and artistic practices in an architectural space. To the holders of bachelor’s and master’s degree who have completed a course of study in design, artistic, technical, humanitarian or other programmes and specialties at NBU or another university, it provides an opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and skills in the direction of design and arts, making the maximum use of the facilities of the Design and Arts Centre, incl. clay, ceramics, porcelain, glass, etc. studios. The students design and implement works in the field of mosaic, stained glass, ceramics and textile interior design, glass interior design, projects on decorative and advertising murals intervention in architectural spaces, etc. On the other hand, the graduates of specialties such as painting, mural painting, sculpture, graphics, etc. develop their knowledge in the field of design, graphic and interior design while upgrading their fine arts knowledge and skills. The students coming from different specialties have the opportunity to enrol in the design and creative courses, acquiring competences of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary nature, incl. both creativity and art, as well as specific skills and knowledge to work with space, interior design, graphics and digital imaging, composition, colour, shape, etc.

Practical training courses:

The programme provides placements and internships in specially equipped studios at NBU, including activities contracted with external organisations, architectural and design studios as well as creative activity in the field of design and visual and plastic arts.

Graduate Student Competencies:

Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:

• history and theory of fine art and design;

• creatively applying classic and contemporary design, monumental and visual-plastic techniques and technologies;

• the area of volume-spatial, graphic and aesthetic problems of the subject environment;

• interdisciplinary artistic and design training related to the specificity of arts in architectural spaces.

Graduation:

Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.

The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.

Occupation and possible positions:

Graduates pursue careers as artists and designers of interior environments, consultants and designers in companies, studios and architectural offices as well as freelancers.
