Artistic Psychosocial Practices and Psychodrama (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme is interdisciplinary and practice-oriented. It expands knowledge of the individual, interpersonal relationships and human behaviour in the social context. The concept and methodology of the programme are rooted in philosophy, theoretical approaches and methods of psychodrama and group processes, as well as the application of arts and expressive approaches in psychosocial practices and working with people. The course of study encompasses lecture and training courses as well as seminars on Modern Psychological Theories, Mental Structure Construction Theories, Psychodrama and Psychoanalysis, Psychosocial Practices and Methods such as psychodrama, sociometry, group dynamics, role analysis, theory and practice of playback and street theatre, forum theatre, art therapy, role-playing theory, etc. The training courses include participation in supervised projects, independent work, project development, seminars, independent research, supervision, etc. The founder and main partner in the development of the programme is the Red House Centre for Culture and Debate "Andrey Nikolov" (www.redhoude-sofia.org).

Practical training courses:
During their studies, students have access to a variety of practice opportunities, working with children and adults in different social contexts.
Students conduct practice on various projects and initiatives of the Red House Centre for Culture and Debate (www.redhouse-sofia.org) such as Pavilion 19, Art for Social Change, Silver Screen, Creativity in Everyday School Life, Yes We Hear Children's Dreams, Transitional Spaces, Street Theatre", a mentoring programme to support children and families in the community and prevent dropping out of school, etc.
Other partner organisations where placements are provided include the New Beginning therapeutic community (http://novonachalo.net), Jiva - direction in life (www.jiva.bg), the Solidarity Day Centre for Addict Rehabilitation (www.solidarnost-bg.org), Star of Hope Foundation (www.starofhopebg.com), the Psychosocial Support Centre (www.cpss.info), Prevention and Information Centre on Drug Addiction Problems - Sofia (www.sofiamca .org) etc.
International mobility:
The programme provides an opportunity for international student mobility at Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany and ISPA - University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal.
Exchange contracts with Sigmund Freud University, Vienna, Austria and the University of Haifa, Israel are to be signed.
Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:
•the person and his/her environment, as well as the interactions between them through the perspective of creativity and spontaneity as basic categories of personal growth and autonomy;
•working with people based on various expressive psycho-social approaches: elements of psychodrama, sociometry and group dynamics, role analysis, role play, etc.;
•conducting various types of consulting sessions with individuals, groups, communities and institutions in the field of arts, education, social activities, health care; advising on problem solving in individual, group and organisational decision-making contexts, optimising personal interactions; organisational functioning, management of people, teams, etc.;
•working in interdisciplinary teams with artists, psychologists, educators, social workers, doctors, managers and other specialists in the implementation of projects with people in a disadvantaged social position, mentally ill, victims of violence, etc.;
•conducting research in the field of arts and human relationships in a different cultural context.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers in various organisations, projects, initiatives and teams in the field of group processes, psycho-social counselling in the community, social activities, culture and arts, education, counselling practices with adults and children, etc.
Some graduates set up their own organisations or independently initiate activities and projects in various social and cultural institutions. Others go into counselling through the arts and creative media or continue their studies in psychodrama and psychotherapy.
