Poster and Communication Design (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme aims to improve knowledge and skills in the field of author poster, graphic and communication design. The course of study consists of three semesters, a preparatory one included, offering the opportunity to degree holders in other professional areas to gain basic knowledge and skills necessary for continuing education in the field of poster art and communication design. The programme expands knowledge and provides guidelines on contemporary trends in poster art and communication design. In the course of study, genre diversity of poster art and aspects of contemporary applied graphics are examined.
Thanks to the themed courses, students are trained in poster concept creation and design, advertising graphics, label, packaging, trademark, corporate style, pictography, etc. In the course of study, special attention is paid to font, typography and calligraphy as the main means of expression of modern graphic design.
Thanks to the theoretical lecture courses, seminars and conferences, the students get to know the traditions and achievements of poster and applied graphics in Bulgaria and worldwide. The instruction is supplemented by courses on specialised computer graphic design software. An important highlight of the programme in its third semester is to provide the students with access to the various professional environments and hands-on work experience on real-life projects by doing internships and practices in various advertising agencies and universities.

Practical training courses:
The programme provides placements and internships in the NBU specialized studios, advertising agencies, printing houses and by agreement with other external organisations.
International mobility:
Erasmus+ contracts with art academies and universities in Poland, Turkey, France, the Czech Republic and Spain.
Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in the field of history and theory of graphic and communicative design, computer knowledge and skills, as well as skills in creative application in projects and author's works.
They will have mastered skills in using modern computer, digital and multimedia technologies; classic and modern methods for artistic design.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as artists - graphic designers, poster artists, artists - commercial advertising, artist - designers, artist - print designers, as well as freelance artists - graphic designers.
