Advertising and Brand Management (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme trains students in a wide range of disciplines necessary for a brand manager and positions in the field of market and non-market uses of trademarks. In addition to the training in Brand and Marketing Management, the programme comprises 1) courses covering the creative side of branding such as Brand Building, Online Branding, Lovemarks, etc.; 2) courses in the legal regulation of trademarks, advertising, marketing and copyright; 3) courses, practices and laboratory activities on trademark research, marketing and media research methods, market segmentation and positioning; 4) a weekly seminar taught by a guest speaker in which students meet established brand managers and advertising professionals; 5) integrated communication activities such as event management, public relations and advertising process management; 6) the semiotic, cognitive and sociological approaches to advertising communication analysis established in the Western tradition in recent years. The relevance of the latter substantiates the Advertising and Lifestyles Specialisation which provides extensive training on the contributions of leading social sciences and humanities not at the expense of practical training. The programme offers a preparatory module for holders of degrees in other professional areas an additional semester to holders of professional bachelor’s degree.

Practical training courses:
Our partners providing internships and creative projects are the communication service agency Saatchi&Saatchi, the marketing department of Bella Bulgaria JSC, Superbrands Bulgaria Project, Creative Studio Ideas Lab and Globus Media Group. In addition, the programme provides an opportunity for practice in unique visual, semiotic and sociological trademark research laboratories.

International mobility:
The programme provides an opportunity for students to study under the Erasmus+ programme at universities in Italy, Germany, Spain, Finland, Cyprus, Greece and Estonia.
Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates will have gained:
• theoretical knowledge of the principles of brand management and accompanying creative, research and marketing activities;
• theoretical knowledge on media communication and planning, audience segmentation and research methods;
• broad interdisciplinary training on contemporary lifestyles and their connection to brands, advertising, the fashion system and malls;
• practical skills to create, manage and develop over time trademarks;
• practical skills to position a given brand or product according to the effect of the conducted advertising campaigns in the sector;
• skills to segment the Bulgarian market according to criteria reflecting modern lifestyles, and to offer adequate messages to reach them.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master's thesis or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Bachelor's or Master's Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as brand managers or marketing directors in commercial companies, managers of public activity in non-profit organisations, political parties, sports organisations and media celebrities. They can also find realisation as highly qualified brand specialists within advertising, marketing or sociological agencies.
