Composition and Conducting (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme aims to build on an undergraduate degree in music and create teams of composers and conductors, capable of creating and working in a contemporary dynamic musical environment. The instruction is individualised. The students are encouraged to search for their creative identity through activities and professional presence on various stages: opera houses, concert halls, television and radio shows. NBU gives the opportunity for pursuing a narrow interdisciplinary specialisation according to social practice requirements and provides instruction in diverse professional interests. The programme provides instruction in the fields of composition, orchestral and choral conducting.

Practical training courses:
There are placement and internship contracts concluded with institutions in Bulgaria. Each semester students have the opportunity to participate in national and international projects, improving the knowledge and skills mastered during the course of study at NBU.

The programme is practically oriented. Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:
• the field of composition and conducting, musical culture, musical theory and history;
• the instrumental and vocal performing and interpretive musical art in the classical, pop and jazz genres as conductors or composers;
• teaching in specialised educational institutions (music schools, colleges, folk arts, choreographic schools, etc.).
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as composers, orchestra conductors, choir conductors, conductors of various ensembles, teachers of music theory, arrangers, publishers of sheet music, experts in musical matters, etc.
