Short presentation of the programme:

The programme provides specialised training on the problems of human behaviour in working and social environments. The focus is on the interaction between organisations and the people who work in/or with them in order to increase their effectiveness. The points of contact of social and organisational psychology are brought out, emphasising the social psychological processes in labour and civil organisations. A distinctive feature of the programme is the study and understanding of organisational processes from different perspectives: at an individual, group and organisational level. The programme is practically-oriented; in addition to the extensive theoretical knowledge, it also envisages conducting real-life research and practical exercises, thus preparing the students to develop and apply the skills necessary for pursuing careers in the world of business and human resource management.

Practical training courses:

The programme provides practical training courses (placements and internships) aimed at acquiring practical skills for organisational diagnostics and consulting, conducting job interviews, conducting trainings and courses, exerting social influence, resolving conflicts, etc. Internships are carried out in consulting organisations in the field of human resources management, organisational development and project management, recruitment agencies, human resources departments in business organisations.

Graduate Student Competencies:

• knowledge on various theories and models explaining human behaviour in a work and organisational environments;

• in-depth knowledge of the functions and processes of human resources management, combined with practical skills for selecting, motivating and retaining quality employees, evaluating their performance through a variety of modern methods and talent management;

• knowledge on the theory and practice of leadership and contemporary challenges before it;

• skills in applying the principles of social and organisational psychology in managing human resources to increase organisational and individual efficiency and well-being;

• diagnostic and consulting skills in organisations, based on knowledge of a wide range of methods, techniques and interventions for organisational change, respecting the principles and stages of organisational development;

• skills in measuring organisational values and attitudes, for example, job satisfaction, work involvement, attachment to the organisation;

• competences to form and train teams, based on the knowledge of the principles of group dynamics and interpersonal relations, awareness of the role of individual differences in the workplace, facilitation of communication processes and creative problem solving at the workplace and practical application of negotiation skills, resolution of conflicts and mediation.

Graduation:

Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.

The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.

Occupation and possible positions:

Graduates pursue careers as specialists in human resource management, organisational psychologists and consultants, training leaders in the field of social skills, research institutions, business companies and non-governmental organisations.
