IT Project Management (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme provides instruction in IT project management. The courses comply with the best models in university education. Various project management aspects are focused on, such as legal regulation, financing, human resources, communications, etc. There are licensed Carnegie-Mellon University Software Engineering Institute courses that address software processes at personal and team level. An emphasis is placed on the development of databases and information systems, data mining, data warehousing. Every lecture course is accompanied by a project. There are courses in English. The third semester includes an internship. The courses are taught by Prof. Evgeny Krastev, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Nellie Maneva, PhD, Prof. Dimitar Hristozov, Assoc. Prof. Alexander Dymov, PhD, Nikolai Dushkov, Assoc. Prof. Denitsa Topchiyska, DSc, Prof. Evgenia Stoymenova, DSc, Prof. Dr. Maria Vidolova, Prof. Snezhana Ilieva, Prof. Vijay Kanabar (Boston University, USA), Valentina Ivanova (Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University certified instructor), etc. The students enrolled in Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University licensed courses pay 20% in addition to the standard semester fee transferred to SEI/CMU. The students who meet the SEI/CMU criteria receive a SEI/CMU document of successful course completion.
The programme includes management systems audit training. The graduates with honours may apply for internationally valid certificates for quality management systems auditors, IT services and information security.
The training includes the following CEN ICT profiles defined in the terms of the European E-competence Framework (http://www.ecompetences.eu/):
• project manager/ head of IT projects (project manager);
• ICT operations manager;
• Quality Assurance Manager;
• enterprise architect/architect of corporate IT systems;
• CIO/chief information technology officer.
The graduates can continue their professional development as e-leaders in both corporate and small and medium-sized enterprises, using their knowledge to develop innovative products in the field of information technology, understanding of business and leadership skills.
The programme is jointly designed by NBU and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (IMI) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). The training is intensive, modular and is held on Saturdays and Sundays at IMI at BAS.

Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:
• understanding the process of creation, implementation and management of IT projects;
• legal regulations in the field of IT, management of technological, human, financial, etc. resources for risk analysis and management;
• creation and management of an effective team.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates hold management positions in companies developing software products, pursuing careers as:
• project managers/heads of IT projects (project managers);
• ICT operations managers;
• Quality assurance managers;
• enterprise architects/architects of corporate IT systems;
• Chief Information Technology Officers.
