Healthcare Management (in Bulgarian) Distance Learning
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme provides interdisciplinary instruction in the field of regulatory, documentary and economic activities in medicine, healthcare HR management, as well as legal regulation and standardisation of selected medical activities in Bulgaria. It prepares interdisciplinary knowledgeable and competent professionals in the field of modern health systems management based on fundamental areas of science, such as Economics and Health Care Management, Organisational Psychology, Risk Management in Healthcare, Financial Analysis, Public Administration, Public Economics Sector, Treatment Process and Hospital Management (Health Insurance System Management), Drug Policy and Pricing of Medical Services, Administration and Organisation of Paramedics’ Work, Good Management and Leadership Practices in Medicine, Legal Regulation in Healthcare, as well as Information Flow Management in the Health Sector Through Specialised Software Solutions.

Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates will have mastered:
• in-depth knowledge of the structuring, culture and organisational change of health organisations and will have become familiar with typology, practical approaches and methods of health policy;
• basic concepts of leadership, teamwork and total quality management in the health sector;
• skills in motivation and managing a team of medical and health professionals performing tasks at regional and national level;
• ability to integrate and coordinate material, financial and human resources, with a view to the implementation of the set goals;
• skills in carrying out independent analytical, controlling, monitoring and consulting activities, including analysis of the document flow of health organisations, working with information systems and documentation on projects in the field of health care, competence in resolving conflicting medico-legal and ethical cases.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
Graduates pursue careers as managers and perform managerial positions in health care structures, both private and state, managers of multi-specialty hospitals for active treatment, managers of diagnostic consultation centres, specialists, experts and consultants in NHIF, NIH, the agencies of the Ministry of Labour and social policy, healthcare consulting firms and non-governmental healthcare organisations.
