Short presentation of the programme:

The programme prepares specialists in the professional field of tourism, trained in both theory and practice and capable of developing and applying the complex concepts of tourism management, which is of particular importance at the modern stage of development. The programme corresponds to the sector’s practical needs of effective management knowledge in a market economy in according with the EU requirements. The main aspects of tourism management are studied in theory and practice. The programme offers a preparatory module for degree holders in other educational fields. There is an upgrading semester for holders of professional bachelor degree.

Graduate Student Competencies:

Graduates will have mastered knowledge and skills in:

• analysing, planning and organising tourism activities according to international standards;

• developing marketing strategies and participating in the management of projects in the field of tourism in the country and abroad;

• applying effective business practices in the management of tourist activities: hotel, restaurant, tour operator and travel agency activities, as well as additional tourist services;

• developing and implementing the policies and principles of sustainable development in tourism;

• managing the quality of tourist services and activities in the field of leisure, tourist travel, entertainment and experiences;

• developing and improving their own tourism business.

Graduation:

Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.

Occupation and possible positions:

Graduates pursue careers in the field of the tourism industry and make decisions when developing corporate strategies in the activity and development of tourism business organisations.

Possible occupations: managers in governmental and non-governmental organisations, managers of travel agencies, food and entertainment establishments, accommodation facilities, managers of cultural and tourist sites.
