Environmental Expertise and Control (in Bulgarian) Distance Learning
Short presentation of the programme:
In connection with Bulgaria’s EU membership, the numerous environmental protection restrictions have affected many economic sectors. This has led to an increased need for ecologists in state and local governmental, public and private enterprises, in the industrial, construction and scientific sectors, NGOs, etc. To hold certain positions in the hierarchy of organisations, the requirements included in the normative documents in the field of preventive and control activities for environmental protection envisage a certain educational degree, acquired knowledge and developed skills at the corresponding educational level. The programme provides an opportunity to upgrade the knowledge and skills of the students in the field to pursue successful careers and to increase their qualification and specialisation obtaining a master's degree.

Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates will have mastered basic knowledge on normative documents and basic provisions in legal regulation in the field of environmental protection; types of environmental assessments for individual components of the environment: air, water, soils, biodiversity and protected areas, waste, noise and vibrations, radiation, etc.; methodologies for assessing the state of environmental components.
Graduates will have acquired skills in applying European and national legislation; analysing the impact of the environment on individual components; preparing environmental assessments and expertise; applying mechanisms and standards for environmental quality control; proposing and making decisions to limit the harmful impact on the environment.
Graduation:
Completion of studies takes place by defending a master’s dissertation or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
