Civil Process (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme aims to prepare highly competent researchers, teachers and experts in the field of civil litigation. The protection of violated civil legal relations through an effective civil process incorporates a system of rules in the field of claim, executive and collateral process not only within the framework of Bulgarian law, but also on the territory of the European Union. In addition, thanks to civil litigation personal and property rights are protected through judicial and extrajudicial proceedings, ensuring legality in a wide range of private legal relationships, i.e. in the emergence and existence of legal entities, in the creation of legally binding evidence, etc. The magazines of the Department of Law, i.e. the Law Review and the Law Journal of New Bulgarian University electronic magazine, provide a forum for publishing scientific research by PhD students and faculty.

International mobility:
The Department of Law at New Bulgarian University has established partnerships with:
• The University of Cologne (Germany) as part of the pan-European Erasmus/Socrates Programme. Among the main goals of the cooperation between the two higher education institutions are the academic exchange of students and faculty and the development of common scientific and educational projects in the field of law;
• The Zinovia and Konstantin Katsarovi Foundation, University of Geneva, Switzerland, provides scholarships for studies, specialisations and research for undergraduate and PhD students and faculty.
Graduate Student Competencies:
PhD graduates will have acquired the knowledge and skills for:
• conducting analytical and research activities on legal proceedings in general and civil legal proceedings in particular by conducting independent research;
• carrying out information-analytical activity for the needs of the legislation in a specific legal area;
• solving scientific and scientific-applied problems in the structure and functions of the judiciary;
• formulation of programmes, strategies and projects for the needs of any state or public body related to the idea of an effective civil process.
Graduation:
Upon earning the required number of credits and defending a doctoral dissertation.
Occupation and possible positions:
PhD graduates can pursue careers as lecturers and researchers in universities, senior experts in state administration and international institutions, judges and arbitrators in Bulgarian and international jurisdictions and highly qualified participants in the public life in general.
The training of such specialists has a multifaceted effect as, on the one hand, it meets the needs of legal doctrine, while on the other, the academic community in view of the increased need for young professors and, on the third, the public demand for qualified lawyers, helping to encourage PhD students to be active participants in academic life, scientific forums and research projects in Bulgaria and abroad.
