Media and Public Communications (in Bulgarian)
Short presentation of the programme:
The programme prepares highly qualified specialists in the field of media studies and its related scientific fields who realise their creative potential in research and teaching work.

Practical training courses:
The programme provides PhD students with the opportunity to take part in and work on research projects; participate in the autumn and spring scientific conferences of the Department of Mass Communications, the traditional Public Relations Summer School and other forums organised by the department.
Graduate Student Competencies:
• fundamental knowledge in the field of media studies, part of the academic discipline of art studies;
• knowledge of journalism and the arts thanks to the transdisciplinary nature of the scientific discipline;
• knowledge of multimedia and interactive communication reality, changing under the influence of the global Web;
• ability to conduct research on the main media components of the means of mass communication (from the press to the Internet);
• fundamental knowledge in the field of media studies, part of the academic discipline of art studies;
• scientific knowledge of the complex social practice of public relations with pervasive application in the management of modern societies;
• research-based knowledge of the types of relationships necessary to maintain the dynamic balance of the social order;
• ability to build and effectively manage communications between organisations and their audiences.
Graduation:
Upon earning the required number of credits and defending a doctoral dissertation.
Occupation and possible positions:
PhD graduates can pursue careers in the field of teaching and science; in organisations of the public or private sector which deal with the means of mass communication and public relations.
