The programme offers a variety of interdisciplinary approaches to the literary field, setting a broad theoretical and historical context for individual doctoral projects. There are numerous opportunities for research work, teaching, participation in scientific conferences and publications in literary journals.

PhD students participate in organising and holding scientific conferences at the Department of New Bulgarian Studies, preparing and publishing volumes of their papers, contributing to SLEDVA, the NBU magazine of humanities and arts, Literary Gazette and NBU Journal.

International mobility:

Under the Erasmus+ program, within the framework of international agreements concluded by NBU.

Graduate Student Competencies:

PhD graduates will have acquired:

• knowledge of modern achievements in the field of humanities, theory and history of literature;

• skills to conduct scientific research and write scientific research papers.

Graduation:

Upon earning the required number of credits and defending a doctoral dissertation.

Occupation and possible positions:

PhD graduates can pursue careers in the field of scientific research, teaching and academic work, publishing and consulting.
