Short presentation of the programme:

The programme offers an interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach to the doctoral student's specific scientific research interests in the field of fine arts. They become familiar with the methods of research, artistic and creative work analyses and teaching in the field of visual and plastic arts. The courses offer highly specialised professional knowledge and practices in the field of art history and visual arts.

Practical training courses:

PhD students enrolled in the programme use the specialised studios of the arts centre, state-of-the-art computer rooms and the NBU library to carry out their practical work. There are also practices and internships at other cultural institutions.

International mobility:

There are Erasmus/Socrates partnerships with art academies in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain and Turkey.

Graduate Student Competencies:

PhD graduates will have acquired:

• in-depth knowledge in the field of theory and history of visual and plastic arts as well as a specific genre of fine arts;

• knowledge and skills to visualise their creative ideas and projects, contributing to a certain genre of visual arts;

• a high degree of competence in the field of classical and modern artistic work visualisation techniques and technologies;

• skills to conduct scientific research, write scientific research texts and analyses of works of art.

Graduation:

Upon earning the required number of credits and defending a doctoral dissertation.

Occupation and possible positions:

PhD graduates can pursue careers in the field of higher art education, scientific research, artistic and exhibition work as well as in publishing and museum work.
