Short presentation of the programme:
In the first two years of the programme, the focus is on general education courses, two-semester courses in the main areas of study, as well as practical courses in the field of music theory and history, practical individual courses, a special cycle of courses in stage interpretation and practical courses in the field of musical practice. In the third and fourth years, the training is organised according to specialisations, with students studying basic theoretical and practical disciplines, enriching their knowledge in the relevant field.

Practical training courses:
Practical training includes placements and internships in State Cultural Institutes in the field of music and dance art, opera houses, orchestras, music houses, chamber ensembles, art schools, television, media, participation in master classes, Orpheus Academic Orchestra, the School of Undergraduate Studies computer music research units for computer sound making and processing, University Choir Folk-Jazz Formation, Tropanka Dance Formation, etc.
International mobility:
The programme provides an opportunity for international student mobility at 20 partner universities in Austria, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Italy, Poland, Finland, France, Croatia, Switzerland, Turkey, etc.
Graduate Student Competencies:
Graduates in Bulgarian Folk Arts, Wind Instruments, Composition, Piano, Pop and Jazz Instruments, Pop and Jazz Singing, String Instruments specialisations will have mastered:
• knowledge in the field of theory and history of music and dance art, interpretation, harmony, instrumentation, musical analysis and polyphony;
• skills to perceive, understand and perform music and dance; skills in instrumental, vocal and dance techniques; skills to interpret the main components of the stage play: sound, movement, space.
Graduates in Sound Directing and Computer and Electronic Music specialisations will have mastered:
• knowledge in the field of modern music technologies, sound recording, modern music industry management, digital music development and in the field of theory and practice of music management;
• skills to work with the latest types of technological equipment and software; skills in active recording activities, participation and management of projects in the field of music and creative industries; skills to work in a creative environment and interdisciplinary teams.
Graduation:
Completion of studies in the bachelor's programme takes place by defending a bachelor's thesis, diploma project or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. In addition to the professional qualification provided, students can also obtain additional specialisation by enrolling in a minor programme.
The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.
Occupation and possible positions:
According to their specialisations, graduates pursue careers as singers, instrumentalists, accompanists, accordionists, luthiers, orchestra supervisors, dancers, choreographers, choir masters, sound engineers, sound engineers, sound designers, computer music specialists, sound operators, sound designers, arrangers, music shapers, managers and producers in the musical arts.
