Short presentation of the programme:

The programme is accredited in the higher education field 5. Technical Sciences, 5.3 Communication and Computer Technology, and aims to provide extensive professional training in the dynamically developing field of telecommunications and the most innovative and highly-paid market niche. Its graduates are hired for positions in leading telecom companies, in the information and communication technology sector, large Internet providers, IT organisations, network and system administrators in data centres and hardware and software service providers. In the first two years, the training in the programme focuses on courses in general education and the main areas of study, such as Installation and Configuration of Computer Systems, Computer Systems Software, Wireless Networks, Data Centre Infrastructure Construction, System and Network Administration, Linux-Based Systems, Microcontroller Programming, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Digital Systems and Networks, Telecommunications Software and Network Operating Systems, Digital Audio and Video, Business Planning and Management, Telecommunications Law and Standards, etc. The programme provides many opportunities for students to be involved in scientific and educational projects and research. The programme offers courses of study leading to graduate and doctoral degrees in telecommunications and computer science.

Practical training courses:

Practical training includes working on assignments in the laboratories of the Department of Telecommunications at NBU and the radio and television centre of NBU.

Graduate Student Competencies:

• knowledge in the field of computer systems and networks, wireless and optical transmission systems, digital networks, Internet networks and services, radio communications, corporate networks, software for telecommunications and computer systems;

• skills in installing and configuring computer systems, planning and managing electronic media, broadcasting radio and television, system and network administration, infrastructure cabling, etc.

Graduation:

Completion of studies in the bachelor's programme takes place by defending a bachelor's thesis or passing a state exam upon earning the required number of credits. In addition to the professional qualification provided, students can also obtain additional specialisation by enrolling in a minor programme.

The graduation process complies with the NBU Standard for Educational and Qualification Degree Completion.

Occupation and possible positions:

Education and training is provided to academically and professionally oriented students who have set themselves high goals for holding positions in mobile telecommunications operators, industrial companies or governmental and international institutions, requiring state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of telecommunications, computers and related applications, technologies and fields.

The need for communication and computer engineers nationally and globally is constantly increasing. Graduates pursue careers in companies building and maintaining telecommunications and digital infrastructure (such as hardware and software specialists); mobile service operators; companies providing terrestrial, cable and satellite television and radio broadcasting services, transport and logistics; companies providing insurance and navigation services; state and international organisations and telecommunications development agencies, Internet providers, application data providers in management centres, software companies using their own or leased cloud infrastructure, the field of digital security, entrepreneurship and innovation in digital services.
