Анотация:

This course examines the history and culture of Jew s in America from their arrival in New Amsterdam in 1654 to the present. It course covers the experience of Jew s of all levels of faith and observance through American history. The course starts in colonial times w hen only some Jew s in the colonies lived side-by-side with the religious refugees from Europe and then continues with a discussion of the early American Jew s. The course then traces the development of American Jewry and the incalculable impacts of the waves of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1800s.
