Професионална автобиография:

Мариана Малинова е завършила специалност „Арабистика“ във Факултета по класически и нови филологии на Софийския университет „Св. Климент Охридски“ и е защитила докторска дисертация на тема „Тълкувател на страстите“ на Ибн Араби. Херменевтика на символите в ислямската мистика“. Преподавала е в катедра „Арабистика“ на Софийския университет. От 2005 г. е преподавател в Департамент „Средиземноморски и източни изследвания“ на Нов български университет. През 2013 г. се хабилитира с монографията „История на преводаческото движение в Абасидския халифат (VIII–X в.)“. Научните ѝ интереси са в областта на интелектуалната история на исляма, история и теория на превода.

Специализирала е в Египет, Испания, Германия, Австрия.

Тя е главен редактор на списание Orientalia. Списание за Изтока, издание на Нов български университет. Участва в редакционната колегия на Millennium Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences и е член на Union Européenne des Arabisants et Islamisants (UEAI).

Mariana Malinova is an Associate Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at New Bulgarian University (NBU), holding a PhD from Sofia University and more than twenty years of teaching and research experience. She specializes in Islamic intellectual history and the history of translation. Since 2014, she has served as Head of the Department of Mediterranean and Eastern Studies at NBU.

She has held several international research fellowships, including DAAD fellowships at the University of Tübingen, a Sasakawa Foundation fellowship at Cairo University, and a Mellon Foundation fellowship at the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in Madrid. In 2024–2025, she was a Pforzheimer Senior Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies Sofia, where she developed the project Constructing Ibn Taymiyya’s Conception of Translation.

She is editor-in-chief of the academic journal Orientalia, a member of the editorial board of the Millennium Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences and has been a member of the Union Européenne des Arabisants et Islamisants (UEAI) since 2000.
