The programme focuses on ceramic plastic art through digital and classical methods to create modern forms in the field of decorative plastic ceramics, sculpture, architecture, installations, performance objects, collages, interior and exterior plastic developments as well as 3D plastic compositions. The students are encouraged to develop technical skills in classical, contemporary and modern art. Exclusively at NBU, the students of ceramics and porcelain can study traditional turning techniques not included in the educational programmes of other higher education institutions. The programme is unique in presenting a modern vision of artistic ceramics, combining classical practices with computer and digital technologies (3D printer). The combination of different means of expression into a complete modern product made of ceramics and porcelain is innovative for Bulgaria and is applied for the first time in the instruction of ceramics and porcelain students at NBU. The programme comprises working with different means of expression, which defines it as a plastic art of a new type, with a modern and contemporary vision. There are specialisations and internships in ceramics, porcelain and computer design at study training centres and contractors in Bulgaria and abroad.
