Анотация:

The course will enable you to understand the logic of the relationship between Circular economy and Sustainable development considered in their interdependence. Basic concepts, topics and problems that characterise the interaction between the two models, as well as their application and good practices are presented. Special emphasis is placed on the strategies, programs and the law of the EU in this field, as well as on the opportunities for Sustainable development and Circular economy in Bulgaria.

The course aims to build a set of new approaches and models of thinking related to areas such as agriculture, energy transition, entrepreneurship, architecture and urban planning, digital technology, design, transport, etc. which reflects the transition from Linear economy to Circular economy.

Компетенции:

1) Students will know:

• the relationship between Circular Economy and Sustainable Development;

• the main principles on which Circular Economy is based;

• the principal factors that determine and influence Sustainable Development on local, regional and global level

2) Students will be able to:

• connect basic facts, phenomena, processes, actors and theories with their socio-economic, political and historical context;

• synthesise and present publicly information from various sources on course topics;

• critically comment on texts (scientific and journalistic) related to the analysis of problems;

• critically evaluate and apply their knowledge (through the real-life project).
