The aim of the course is the student’s achievement of conceptual understanding of the main concepts and methods for psychological testing, as well some practical skills for creation and analysis of psychological tests.

basic methods for and statistical approaches to psychological testing and assessment

best practices for administering and analyzing psychological tests and assessments

BE ABLE TO:

to use standardized psychological tests

to design and pilot new tests for psychological constructs

  2. Constructing a new test: Constructing a new test. Example of the EPAQ.
  3. Constructing a new test part 2: Steps and considerations. Operationalization of the test.
  4. Factor Analysis: What it is and why it is useful
  5. Ethical issues in psychological testing and assessment. Vulnerable populations. Informed consent. Debriefing.
  6. Classical Test Theory: What is it and why it is useful.
  7. Item-response Theory: What it is and why it is useful
  8. Reliability. Types: internal consistency, test-retest, inter-rater, and parallel forms.
  9. Validity. Types: content, criterion, and construct.
  10. TEST
  11. Measurement scales. General assumptions about psychological testing and assessment.
  12. Norms, normality, and standard deviation. Outliers. Exclusion criteria.
  13. In-class data collection
  14. We will discuss famous psychological tests.
  15. Group project presentations
