Анотация:
This unit underlines the importance of accommodation operations by preparing students in an efficient and practical way to effectively manage the rooms division of a hotel business. Emphasis is on familiarizing students with front office and housekeeping operations, standard procedures and related information systems applications. The unit aims to develop the necessary knowledge and skills in order for students to provide quality accommodation with due consideration of cost control and profitability imperatives.

Students who complete this course:
1) will:
• acquire basic skills and knowledge necessary to successfully identify the required standards in this area and to consider all aspects of cost control and establishing profitability
• acquire skills and knowledge necessary to successfully identify the required standards and Control Systems in this area and to consider managerial decision-making aspects of this department

- Budget & Budgetary Control: Definition, Concept & importance; Types of Budgets – operating & capital; Housekeeping Room Cost
- Purchasing System: Identification & selection of supplier; Purchase procedure – Purchase order, receiving, storage & issuing
- Contract Cleaning: Definition, Concept; Jobs given on contract by Housekeeping; Advantages & Disadvantages: Pricing a contract
- Sales & Marketing Department: Organizational Chart; Role of Sales & Marketing Department; Co-ordination with Front Office; Making of Sales and Marketing and Advertising Plan
- Planning of a Guest Room: Application in Planning; Size of Guest Room as per the classification norms; Layout of the guest room to the scale; Furniture - size and arrangement; Bathroom fixtures & amenities; Planning of Services Areas – Linen Room / Laundry
