Анотация:

The course is intended to provide an introduction to the main topics in social cognition, i.e. social perception, motivation, attitudes, stereotypes, embodiment, social judgment, and social neuroscience. The key research on the processing of social information will be discussed along with the recent developments in the field. The format of the meeting will be a seminar. Students will be encouraged to read, discuss and criticize the studies and theories of social cognition, covered in the course.

Students who complete this course:

1) will know:

• To know the main theories and research questions in the field of social cognition;

• To know the basic empirical paradigms used for studying social perception.

2) will be able to:

• To discuss and critically think about the existing theoretical account of social cognition;

• To formulate new and reasonably well-grounded in the social cognition field empirical questions;

• To test empirically their hypothesis, using the social cognition methodology.
