Students will be able:

• to evaluate, analyse, and apply techniques to effectively promote the learning and development of human resources within workplace and organizations;

• to increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of trends and issues related to the learning and development of organizations equipped to deal with rapid change.

Students should have the following knowledge and/or skills:

Courses on basic human resource management, understanding of HRM strategies, policies and practices.

After completing successfully this course the students will:

1) know:

• the concepts of training, learning and development learning organization and learning culture;

• the context of modern learning and development in the organizations;

• modern approaches and techniques for training, learning and development;

• differences between training, learning and development methods as well as the main advantages and disadvantages of the methods;

• demonstrate understanding of concepts, current trends, and strategies relevant to learning and development in the organizations.

2) are capable of:

• assessing the factors affecting the learning and development within the organizations;

• assessing when a particular problem within organizations could be solved by using learning and development methods;

• choosing proper types of training and development methos for the purposes of specific training events and cources;

• developing a training needs analysis which outlines the main problems the learning and development activities could solve;

• developing a learning plan to address identified needs as they relate to job performance, “reskilling” of workforce or professional development, etc.

Средства за оценяване:

The course will be a combination of lectures, class participation, and student assignments.

Current evaluation:

Assignments 1. Written exams: 2 written exams (mid-term tests) during the semester (30 % of the final mark from current evaluation);

Assignments 2. Two individual presentations or homework papers, writing (6-8 pages) (30% of the final mark from current evaluation); the deadline: the end of semester.

Assignment 3. Participation in discussions at lectures (40 % of the final mark from current evaluation).

The course includes independent work with educational materials:

• work with textbooks and articles - reading, reflecting on the experience, and assessment of concepts, performing exercises and assignments for analysis and study of the working environment and practices.

• defining and discussing problems after reading articles;

• work with the electronic resources.
