COGM113 Психофизиологични изследвания и когнитивни процеси


The course presents the basic methods of studying psychophysiological processes and their relation to the cognitive and affective processes in humans. A lot of attention is devoted to the technology of planning and conduction psychophysiological experiments. The topics include the main methods for psychophysiological studies, data analysis and interpretation. EEG method is covered extensively during the course. Students are also introduced to eye-tracking recordings, Electrocardiogram (ECG), Photoplethysmography (PPG), and Electrodermal activity (EDA).

Students who complete this course:

1) will know:

• methodology of eye-tracking recordings

• applications of eye-tracking recordings in the study of cognitive processes

• basics of EEG recordings

• basic analysis techniques of human EEG

2) will be able to:

• describe the main psychophysiological methods for studying the cognitive processes

• critically analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each method

• read scientific articles using psychophysiological recordings
