Анотация:

COURSE ANNOTATION AND AIMS:

This course presents in depth the development policies of the EU considering the European consensus on development issues, the underlying principles, goals and vision, the development policies in key areas of intervention, the key tools and the assessment of the progress in the areas of the assistance.

The course aims to provide with comprehensive knowledge about the framework for formulating the current development policies of the EU, the interdependencies and modalities, the relationship with key global development priorities, individualization to specific national context and to acquaint students with specific challenges and solutions. It explores in detail specific areas of intervention and relates them to the assessment of priorities and progress. Special attention is being paid to adapting the problems of development to the current national problems. Particular focus is given to the problem of assessing the effectiveness of assistance provided and the criteria for assessing the impact of specific interventions

After completing successfully this course the students will:

1) know:

- Key concepts, principles, policy documents of EU development.

- Key areas of intervention development policies.

- Key tools for implementation of development policies.

- Monitoring and evaluation of policies and development aid.

2) be capable of:

- Analyze and evaluate specific projects within the overall framework of development policies of the EU.

- Apply criteria for assessing progress in the areas of intervention.

3) job opportunities, according to the National Register of Jobs and Positions in the Republic of Bulgaria:

- Specialists and experts from the average in international organizations - UN, Council of Europe, OSCE, NATO;

- Experts in the EU institutions (European Commission and European Parliament);

- Experts and consultants in international non-governmental organizations;

- Diplomatic officials;

- Professionals with analytical and control functions in the administration.
