POLS435 Суверенитет, международна интервенция и човешки права

Анотация:

The course shall offer a thorough and systematic introduction to the concepts of sovereignty and international intervention. Human rights and humanitarian need will also be examined as crucial aspects of the subject matter. The course will also examine the intersection of these concepts and the resulting international dynamics emerging from them. We will look at various instruments of intervention and conditionality as a means of managing change in other societies. The legal aspects of intervention will receive attention as well as the role of international organizations. The course will focus on the important role of international organizations, mandating, etc. in cases of intervention. Importantly, the course will deal with a number of case studies to illustrate the above concepts and issues. These cases will vary over time and will be updated as interventions occur in international relations.
