Анотация:
This course will focus on the major topics in continental philosophy which have been analyzed previously in the core courses(PHEB 103 Aesthetics; PHEB505 Existentialism; PHEB708 Virtue Ethics).This course will help students become better skilled in understanding and intelligently discussing many difficult problems of human existence and artistic creativity, which today are problems of distinguishable and worthwhile worldviews.

Students gain the ability to see the connection between theory and practice, philosophy and other sciences, as well as create individual projects and discuss contemporary European values.

- The Legacy of Existentialism. The Existentialism today and the Rise of the current worldviews. The question of engagement: Social and political impact of existentialism.
- Reason, passions and free choice: Virtue ethical theories in the Age of Enlightenment (Kant, Hume, Diderot. Montesquieu versus Hobbes)
- Aesthetics and narration. The recurrence of great myths. Visual arts and the predominance of the “images”. The example of Cinema. What will be the "re-enchantment"?
