SHEB201 Principles of Management
Annotation:
The unit focuses on the importance of management as well as the manager’s role as the coordinator of the available organisational resources with the view to the efficient and effective achievement of the organisational goals. Students will approach two of the four basic management functions, planning and organizing, giving them the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to effectively manage organisational performance on the whole; they will also acquire the basic knowledge in identifying techniques for improving their decision making as potential managers.

Competencies:
1) will know:
• the basic administration and organization principles of management that underlie effective organizations
• the vital role managers play in implementing basic management techniques to achieve an organization’s mission and goals
• why responding appropriately to the global environment is crucial for managerial and organisational success.
2) will be able to:
• define the role and responsibilities of managers at different levels in the organizational hierarchy
• identify the basic principles of organisation focusing on planning and organizing
• recognize basic managerial techniques to improve certain organisational processes in order to meet future contingencies and demands
