- The first complex of related topics included into the seminar - course has an introductional character and is focused on the leading theories and paradigms in the understanding and studying of the international relations. The second and more extensive complex of topics is focused on the origins, evolution, role and way of functioning of the contemporary leading international organizations. Study-objects here are international organizations involved in different dimensions of the international interrelation and cooperation – UNO, OSCE OECD, NAFTA (USMCA), ASEAN, MERCOSU, WB, IMF, WTO and the different G-formats.
- The students should prepare a paper (10 - 15 pages) on one of the topics listed below. Theme 1: International relations and international organizations. Why and how do states interact and what is the role of the international organizations? Theme 2: Historical evolution of the international organizations. Types of international organizations and criteria of international organizations classification. Contemporary tendencies: from intergovernmental cooperation towards global governance. Theme 3: What is globalization? Dimensions of globalization (economic, cultural, political and institutional). Theme 4: United Nations Organization (UNO): Origins and evolution. UNOs role in the system of the international relations: preservation of the human rights and preservation of the international peace and security. Theme 5: UNO as an organization: structure, main bodies, organizations under the UNOs umbrella. Way of functioning and decision-making process. Theme 6: UNO and the preservation of the international peace in the Cold war period and in the post-bipolar world – cases of failures and successes (choose one peace - keeping operation conducted by UNO). Theme 7: Regional intergovernmental organizations and regional trade organizations and communities. OECD, NAFTA (USMC), ASEAN, MERCOSUR. The case of the European Union. Theme 8: International military (defense) organizations: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO. Theme 9: Intergovernmentalism and supranationalism. Theme 10: International economic and financial organizations : The World Bank (WB). Theme 11: International economic and financial organizations: The World Trade Organization (WTO). Theme 12: International economic and financial organizations: The Internnational Monetary Fund (IMF) and the new international economic forums and formats (G-formats). Theme 13: The new functional, economic and military configurations in the international environment: BRICS, the Eurasian Economic Union. Theme 14: The global governance and the boundaries of the sovereignty.
