Анотация:
The course aims at presenting the basic issues in the morphology of Modern English. It is divided in three parts: the first one discussing basics in the modern morphological concepts such as the morpheme, the morph and the allomorphs, verbal versus nominal categories, the notions of the grammatical categories and their relations to the functional categories etc. The second part deals with the nominal categories: nouns, pronouns and adjectives and their grammatical categories in Modern English. The third part deals with the verb in Modern English: the verb forms, the classification of the verbs and the grammatical categories of the verb such as tense,aspect, voice, modality etc.

On completion of the couse the students are expected to be able to cope with the basic terminology in English morphology and to have knowledge to distinguish between the forms of nouns and verbs, as well as to be able to analyze ceratin morphological nomonal and verbal structures.
