PSYE206 Social Psychology: Behavioral Aspects
Annotation:
The aim of this course is to broaden the field of social psychology presenting different kinds of social behavior – aggression, prosocial behavior, interpersonal attraction and love. Special attention is paid to social attitudes, their origins, measurement, change and their relation to overt behavior of the individual. Lectures are followed by seminars giving the students opportunity to analyze and discuss different empirical data.

Course Description:
Competencies:
On completion of the course the students will have:
1) knowledge:
- the basic achievements – theories and constructs - explaining interpersonal relationships;
- the origins and functions of different forms of social behavior – aggression, prosocial behavior, close relationships;
- the fundamental principles of attitude formation and change.
2) skills:
- to make sense of the hypothesis and research findings in the field of interpersonal relations;
- to present verbally results of social-psychological experiments and their interpretation.
Prerequisites:
Sufficient listening, reading and writing skills in English (level C1) as well as introductory courses in Psychology from the 1st year of the education.
